Nigerian football legend Samson Siasia believes that a potential move for Victor Osimhen from Napoli to Manchester United would be a “worthy gamble” for all parties involved, including the player, the selling club, and the Red Devils.
In an exclusive interview with Africa Foot, the former Super Eagles star and ex-head coach endorsed the proposed transfer, which has gathered momentum in recent weeks amid reports of serious interest from the Premier League giants.
“Should the deal materialize as reported by several outlets, I think it will work out well for Napoli, Osimhen, and Manchester United,” Siasia said. “It’s tricky given Manchester United’s recent struggles, but the new project under Ruben Amorim and the INEOS leadership gives a real ray of hope. For me, it’s a worthy gamble.”
Multiple reports earlier this week claimed that Manchester United were closing in on an agreement with Napoli and Osimhen over a summer move. The 26-year-old forward is currently on loan at Galatasaray until the end of the season. His contract with Napoli runs until June 2026.
“I think it’s a move Osimhen would want, considering the stature of the club and the manager in charge. Napoli are definitely ready to sell at the right price because of how things ended between them and Osimhen,” Siasia added.
“But most importantly, Manchester United are desperate for a proven goal scorer—and Osimhen gives them exactly that. In fact, I believe they should act fast and decisively. He’s one of the best strikers in the world right now and will surely attract interest from top clubs across Europe. Even Saudi Arabia might enter the race with a big-money offer. Manchester United can’t afford to sleep on this opportunity.”
Osimhen has been in red-hot form this season at Galatasaray, scoring 30 goals and providing six assists in 30 appearances across all competitions, including 25 matches in the Turkish Süper Lig. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at €70 million.
