Victor Osimhen has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish giants monitoring the Galatasaray striker as they assess potential attacking reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to beIN Sports, Atletico are drawing up contingency plans in case Argentine forward Julian Alvarez departs the club, and Osimhen is among the names being considered by manager Diego Simeone and the club’s recruitment team.
The Nigeria international has enjoyed another prolific campaign in Turkey, further enhancing his reputation as one of Europe’s most effective centre-forwards. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several major clubs across the continent continuing to track his situation.
Manchester United have also been repeatedly linked with the 27-year-old in recent months, while interest from other elite European sides remains a recurring theme whenever the transfer window approaches.
However, any move for Osimhen would be far from straightforward.
Galatasaray invested heavily to secure the striker from Napoli in 2025, paying a reported €75 million fee for a player viewed as the centrepiece of the club’s long-term project. With a contract running until 2029, the Turkish champions are under no immediate pressure to sell and would be expected to demand a substantial fee before entering negotiations.
Victor Osimhen addresses transfer rumours as Galatasaray future remains unchanged
Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray has been underlined throughout the season. The Super Eagles star has contributed 22 goal involvements in 33 appearances across all competitions, playing a leading role in the club’s domestic and European ambitions.
His blend of pace, physicality and clinical finishing has made him one of the most sought-after African footballers on the market. Since breaking through at Belgian side Charleroi, Osimhen has enjoyed successful spells at Lille, Napoli and Galatasaray, winning individual awards and establishing himself as Nigeria’s leading attacking figure.
The striker’s previous admiration for Atletico boss Diego Simeone has also attracted attention. Following a UEFA Champions League meeting with the Spanish side earlier this season, Osimhen publicly praised the Argentine coach’s tactical approach and competitive mentality, comments that have resurfaced amid the latest transfer speculation.
While Atletico’s interest is understood to be at an exploratory stage, the report is another indication of Osimhen’s standing within European football. As clubs prepare for the summer market, the Nigerian forward is expected to remain one of the most discussed names.
For now, Galatasaray retain control of the situation thanks to Osimhen’s long-term contract, but continued interest from clubs such as Atletico Madrid and Manchester United suggests the transfer story could gather momentum in the months ahead.
