Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has moved to calm speculation surrounding his future at Galatasaray after comments made by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle sparked fresh transfer rumours.
The forward, who has been linked with several of Europe’s leading clubs in recent transfer windows, insisted there is no ongoing uncertainty regarding his situation after discussions with the national team manager.
Questions over Osimhen’s future emerged after Chelle explained the striker’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming friendly matches against Poland and Portugal, suggesting off-field matters had influenced the decision.
The remarks quickly fuelled suggestions that the Galatasaray star could be preparing for a summer move, with clubs across the Premier League and Europe regularly linked with the 27-year-old.
However, reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicate that neither Osimhen nor Galatasaray are currently engaged in negotiations over a transfer.
The former Napoli striker also released a statement seeking to clarify the situation and defend Chelle’s comments, insisting they had been misinterpreted.
🗣️Victor Osimhen: “Az önce Eric Chelle ile son röportajında benim hakkımda yaptığı yorumlar konusunda telefonda görüştüm.
Maalesef, sözleri bağlamından koparılmış ve abartılmıştır. Kendisi Galatasaray’a çok büyük saygı duymakta, maçlarımızın çoğunu takip etmekte ve hiçbir… pic.twitter.com/Oql8m40Pgn

Osimhen explained that he had spoken directly with the Nigeria coach and stressed that Chelle holds great respect for Galatasaray and had no intention of creating controversy around his future.
The striker urged supporters to ignore the growing speculation, reaffirming his appreciation for the national team and his working relationship with the coach.
Osimhen enjoyed another productive campaign in Turkey, registering 22 goals and eight assists as Galatasaray continued to benefit from his prolific form in front of goal.
His performances have inevitably attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid all previously linked with the Nigerian international.
Despite the persistent transfer rumours, Osimhen’s current position appears unchanged. The Super Eagles star remains under a long-term contract with Galatasaray and there is no indication that an immediate departure is being discussed.
For now, the focus appears to be on ending speculation rather than accelerating it, with both player and club keen to distance themselves from suggestions that a summer transfer is imminent.
