Paul Onuachu remains committed to Trabzonspor despite attracting a significant transfer offer, according to club president Ertugrul Dogan.
Speaking about the club’s summer plans to Fanatik, Dogan revealed that Trabzonspor turned down an offer worth close to €20 million for the Nigerian striker, insisting both the club and player are focused on continuing their partnership ahead of the new season.
“There is an offer for Paul Onuachu, but he loves Trabzonspor and has no intention of leaving,” Dogan said. “We received an offer close to €20 million, but we did not accept it.”
The comments are likely to delight Trabzonspor supporters, with Onuachu emerging as one of the club’s most influential attacking players since arriving in Turkey. The towering forward has rebuilt his reputation in the Süper Lig after a difficult spell in the Premier League and remains a key figure in the club’s ambitions for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 32-year-old Nigerian international first made his name with prolific goalscoring spells at clubs including FC Midtjylland and KRC Genk, where he established himself as one of Europe’s most consistent strikers. His form in Belgium earned him a move to Southampton, although opportunities proved limited before he reignited his career in Turkey.
Dogan’s update on Onuachu came as he outlined Trabzonspor’s transfer strategy for the summer window. The president said the club had already completed the majority of its planned recruitment, with negotiations continuing for several remaining targets.
According to Dogan, Trabzonspor have secured eight of the 12 signings identified by the club and are continuing discussions with four additional players as preparations for the new season accelerate.
The president also praised head coach Fatih Tekke and his staff, stating that recruitment decisions are being made in line with the technical team’s requirements.
Trabzonspor enjoyed a strong campaign in both the Turkish Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup, and the club’s early activity in the transfer market signals an intention to build on that progress.
For now, however, one of the biggest pieces of business may be keeping hold of Onuachu. The rejection of a €20 million bid underlines both the striker’s value and Trabzonspor’s determination to retain one of their most important players as they prepare for another push for domestic honours.
