Ademola Lookman says Nigeria are targeting victories in both of their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles begin their campaign against Madagascar in Uyo on 25 September before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau four days later.
Lookman, who has been included in Eric Chelle’s squad for the qualifiers, says Nigeria are aware of the challenge but remain determined to make a strong start.
“The whole team is looking forward to it. Two very important games are approaching, and the opponents are difficult to face. But we are looking forward to winning these two games,” Lookman said on Sporty TV.
“We know that the games will be difficult, but we will do everything possible to achieve it.”

Nigeria finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and have reached the semi-finals at each of the past four editions they have qualified for.
After missing out on the 2026 World Cup, the Super Eagles will be aiming to avoid another disappointment by starting their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign with maximum points.
Lookman will hope to play a key role before linking up with the Nigeria squad following Atletico Madrid’s derby against Real Madrid on Sunday.
