According to Turkish media reports, the second-tier promotion contenders have made progress in negotiations with the 29-year-old, with a proposed six-month contract and an option to extend.
Neither Bursaspor nor Onyekuru has confirmed an agreement. Reports also differ over his registration status after his spell with Gençlerbirliği, where he made 19 appearances last season without scoring or providing an assist.
Onyekuru, who has previously played for Everton and Galatasaray, could train with Bursaspor before January if a deal is completed, but would have to wait until the winter registration window to make his competitive debut.
The move would offer the winger an opportunity to revive his career, while Bursaspor would have the chance to assess him before deciding whether to extend his stay.
