According to Football Insider, the Premier League club have monitored the Nigeria international for some time and are weighing up a move to provide competition for Gabriel Gudmundsson.
Sanusi’s contract situation could prove decisive. The 28-year-old is tied to Porto until June 2027, but uncertainty over a possible extension could make him available during the winter transfer window.
Leeds are understood to believe negotiations could be easier if Porto fail to agree new terms with the defender.
Sanusi joined the Portuguese giants in 2020 and made 11 league starts last season. He has started five league matches in the current campaign and has also made 29 Champions League appearances for the club.
Porto must now decide whether to offer the Nigerian a new contract or consider a sale before he enters the final year of his deal.
No formal offer from Leeds has been confirmed, but Sanusi’s contractual situation could make him one to watch ahead of the January transfer window.
