Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has solidified his future with Udinese Calcio by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028, as per the club’s official website.
The 24-year-old, who joined Udinese from Watford in the summer of 2023 for a transfer fee of approximately €2 million, quickly established himself as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. His performances, including five clean sheets in 21 league appearances, were crucial in helping the club avoid relegation last season.
Despite attracting interest from other Italian clubs, Okoye chose to commit his future to Udinese, reflecting a mutual desire between the player and the club to continue their successful partnership. The club praised Okoye’s high level of performance and expressed their excitement for the future as they embark on this extended journey together.
Okoye’s impressive form has also earned him a call-up to the Nigerian national team, although he did not feature in the recent World Cup qualifiers. As the new season begins, Okoye has already demonstrated his value, keeping clean sheets in his first two appearances.
