Former Nigeria international and ex-Super Eagles defender Pascal Karibe Ojigwe has backed his compatriot Moses Simon to shine in Serie A, urging him to make the switch from French Ligue 1 side Nantes to either AS Roma or AC Milan this summer.
This comes amid growing transfer rumors linking Simon to AS Roma in the upcoming window, with reports suggesting a potential €6 million move. The 29-year-old winger’s contract with Nantes is set to expire in June 2026, adding more intrigue to his future.
Other reports have also linked AC Milan, the seven-time UEFA Champions League winners, with a move for Simon. Meanwhile, OGC Nice and Olympique Marseille are also said to be keen on signing the Nigerian star, as reported by French media outlets.
Karibe Ojigwe: Moses Simon Must Move to Italy for Career Growth
Speaking exclusively to Kick Off Nigeria, Ojigwe urged Simon to seize the opportunity to move abroad, particularly to Italy, where he believes the winger would excel.
“Moses Simon has performed exceptionally well for Nantes since joining them and continues to impress. If an offer from Italy comes, I would strongly advise him to take it,” Ojigwe told Kick Off Nigeria.
“He would thrive in Serie A, no doubt. His versatility and adaptability are top-notch, and these qualities would allow him to succeed at the highest level, especially at clubs like AS Roma and AC Milan. Moving from Nantes, who are battling relegation, to two of Italy’s biggest clubs would be a massive step up,” added Ojigwe, who earned 17 caps for the Super Eagles.
While acknowledging interest from OGC Nice and Marseille, Ojigwe believes a move outside France would be the best choice for the Nigerian international.
“Nice and Marseille are fantastic clubs, but I think he should explore opportunities abroad. If a move to Italy, Spain, or England is on the table, he should go for it,” remarked the former Bayer Leverkusen, FC Kaiserslautern, and FC Köln player.
