Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, currently playing for KRC Genk, has spoken out regarding the growing speculation about a potential transfer to Premier League club Fulham, Soccernet.NG reports via De Standard.
While reports have linked the forward with a move to London, Arokodare remains focused on his career in Belgium, downplaying any imminent transfer plans.
Since joining Genk from Amiens SC for €5 million in January 2023, Arokodare has established himself as a key figure at the club, often seen as the successor to former Genk star Paul Onuachu. However, the 23-year-old made it clear in a recent interview with De Standard that he is content with life at Genk and is not distracted by the rumors circulating in the media.
“I’ve seen the rumors, but I’m happy here in Genk,” Arokodare commented. He also touched on his national team ambitions, highlighting the fierce competition for a spot in the Nigerian squad. “If a Nigerian striker scores three times in the Premier League or Bundesliga, I know I have to score at least eight times to be considered. But if I’m not called up, I’ll keep working hard for my club.”
Arokodare has been in fine form for Genk, scoring 23 goals and registering five assists in 73 appearances since his arrival. This season, he has already netted six goals in 10 Jupiler Pro League matches, performances that have caught the attention of clubs across Europe.
While Fulham has been keeping an eye on the forward, the London club currently has a solid attacking lineup featuring fellow Nigerians Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi. Despite rumors, it seems that adding another striker isn’t a top priority for Fulham head coach Marco Silva at the moment.
