Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare‘s future at Wolverhampton Wanderers has been thrown into fresh doubt after a reported training ground dispute, with Serie A side Fiorentina continuing their pursuit of the striker, according to Footy-Africa.
Footy-Africa understands that the 25-year-old has become increasingly frustrated over the lack of progress regarding a potential move to Italy, where Fiorentina have emerged as the leading contenders for his signature.
A source close to the player’s camp insisted Arokodare had attempted to maintain a professional approach despite wanting to leave Molineux this summer.
“He wants to leave and is disappointed that Wolves are not engaging with Fiorentina, who remain the favourites to sign him,” the source said.
“Despite wanting a transfer, he reported for training as expected. However, he was prevented from joining the first-team session, which led to the disagreement.”
The source added that Turkish club Trabzonspor had also shown interest in the Super Eagles forward, but Arokodare’s priority is a move to Serie A.
“There is no desire to move to Turkey at this stage of his career. Italy is where he wants to play, and everyone hopes an agreement with Fiorentina can be reached. We have also heard another newly promoted Serie A club is interested, although no name has been confirmed.”
According to the source, Arokodare is also not expected to travel with Wolves for their upcoming pre-season preparations.
The striker’s future has been the subject of growing speculation throughout the summer transfer window, with Wolves reportedly willing to listen to suitable offers following the club’s relegation as they look to reshape their squad.
Tensions are understood to have escalated after reports claimed a first-team training session was disrupted when Arokodare refused to leave the pitch after being denied permission to train with the senior squad.
Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto was reportedly left frustrated by the incident, with the session subsequently cancelled. Reports also suggested security measures at the club’s training ground were tightened following the disagreement.
Arokodare joined Wolves ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and made 33 appearances in all competitions during his debut season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
With Fiorentina continuing to push for a deal and relations between the player and Wolves appearing increasingly strained, the coming days could prove decisive in determining where the Nigerian striker will play next season.
