Chelsea’s pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen might get a financial boost from a surprising source: Manchester United.
According to L’Equipe via Football Transfers, the London club could fund a move for Osimhen by selling French midfielder Christopher Nkunku to United in January.

New United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly sees Nkunku as a key fit for his tactical plans, and the player is open to the move, having struggled for game time at Chelsea. The Blues hope to recoup nearly the €60 million spent on Nkunku to put toward Osimhen’s transfer.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is available for a January transfer due to a break clause in his contract. The Nigerian star has shone in Turkey and is coming off a standout season where he led Napoli to their first Serie A title in over 30 years.
Chelsea’s initial interest in Osimhen was stalled by budget issues, but the potential sale of Nkunku could reignite their pursuit. The Super Eagles forward is also set to lead Nigeria in their AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda, with just one point needed to secure a spot in the 2025 tournament.
