Galatasaray have stepped up their pursuit of Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis by submitting an opening bid for the Göztepe star, according to Footy-Africa, with the Turkish champions now challenging Premier League newcomers Coventry City for his signature.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after young midfielders in Turkey following an impressive campaign with Göztepe, attracting interest from clubs across Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.
Footy-Africa understands that Galatasaray have already made their first approach for Dennis, although Göztepe rejected the initial proposal. The Süper Lig champions are expected to return with an improved offer as they look to strengthen their squad before the new season.
Coventry City had previously been regarded as the leading contenders to sign the Nigerian after holding extensive talks over a potential transfer. However, Galatasaray’s entry into the race has significantly increased competition for the midfielder.
Göztepe are believed to value Dennis at around €8 million, a figure that could rise if interest from other clubs continues to intensify.

Several European sides are monitoring the situation, with Bundesliga clubs Hoffenheim and Augsburg among those credited with an interest. Belgian outfit Anderlecht, French side Rennes and Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow have also been linked with the Nigerian international.
Earlier in the transfer window, Göztepe turned down a €3.5 million offer from Trabzonspor, underlining their determination to secure maximum value for one of the club’s brightest young talents.
Despite having only one year remaining on his current contract, Göztepe are under no pressure to sell below their valuation and are expected to consider offers only if they meet their asking price.
With Galatasaray now joining Coventry City in the race, Dennis’ future is likely to be one of the transfer stories to watch in the coming weeks as interest in the Nigerian midfielder continues to gather pace.
