Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis could remain at Göztepe S.K. until the final weeks of the summer transfer window, with the club refusing to lower their asking price despite growing interest from across Europe, according to Footy-Africa.
The 22-year-old has emerged as one of Göztepe’s most sought-after players, but the Turkish side’s reported €9 million valuation has become the main obstacle to a deal.
Coventry City have been among the strongest contenders for Dennis, with manager Frank Lampard keen to strengthen his midfield. However, negotiations are understood to have stalled after the Championship club failed to match Göztepe’s valuation.
The midfielder continues to attract interest elsewhere. Turkish rivals Trabzonspor and Galatasaray S.K., Belgian giants R.S.C. Anderlecht and German side SV Elversberg are all reported to be monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer deadline.
Dennis is entering the final year of the contract he signed in 2024 after breaking into Göztepe’s first team following his move from Nigeria’s HB Academy. Despite the risk of losing the midfielder for a lower fee in the future, the club are prepared to wait rather than sanction a cut-price sale.
The Nigeria youth international has also been left out of Göztepe’s pre-season fixtures, with the club reportedly keen to avoid any injury that could jeopardise a potential transfer.
Known for his energy, ball-winning ability and composure in possession, Dennis has developed into one of the Turkish Super Lig’s most promising young midfielders. While a move remains possible before the window closes, Göztepe’s firm stance means any interested club will likely have to meet the club’s valuation to secure his signature.
